Dave Maples turns 40

Willard IB Elementary School - International Day
Caleb's elementary school is a part of the International Baccalaureate network of World schools and today was International Day so to celebrate his Scottish heritage he wore a traditional kilt and sporran.
My favorite part of the costume was the black Larry Bird edition high-top Converse as a variation on the normal footwear.
Kid Power Expo - Pasadena Convention Center
Caleb performed a demonstration with his Kid Power Muay Thai/Shaolin Kenpo class at the Pasadena Convention Center a few weeks ago. Easily one of the most hellish experiences I've ever been exposed to as a parent. Thousands of children and their parents (with strollers!) jammed into a convention hall with obnoxious children's music blaring throughout the day. I think Caleb's expression in the pics below speak volumes. It was cool to see Caleb 'do his thing' in front of a fairly large audience, though.

Our friend Heidi gave Caleb her Mom's collection of Harry Potter books. Heidi's mom passed away earlier this year so this was a very special gesture and we look forward to reading them all with Caleb as time goes on.
