Our man Caleb went on his first 'big-boy' (unassisted from Mom and Dad) hike yesterday up at Millard Canyon in Altadena. In the past we've done numerous hikes with Mr. C. enjoying the ride in a special backpack but this kid is getting bigger, and heavier, by the day. It was rough going at first because he wanted to stop and examine every little rock and pile of horse 'poo' but, I'm happy to report, he made it to the top of the trail all by himself. We had gotten some much-needed rain the day before so it made the journey a lot greener and a little muddier but well worth it.
View from the top. You can just make out the downtown L.A. skyline off in the horizon.

It's all happening at the zoo
...the L.A. Zoo, that is. A really great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and our man Caleb absolutely loves it. He now has favorite animals that we have to go see first before we do anything else. Giraffes, monkeys, zebras (even though I heard they're reactionaries) and lions. What a gas!
Whaddya think of the lions, Caleb?

No, you're not imagining things, yes, he is about to take his pants off. That's what you do when somebody points a camera at you, right? His mother says he gets this from me but I don't know what she's talking about.
I'm not a fan of the feathered edge on this photo but I'm delighted beyond words that my boy is holding a basketball.
I just realized that Caleb is wearing the same shirt in the last three posts. I promise he has other clothes. Most involve Spiderman, Batman or Buzz Lightyear in some way, shape or form.
